Trendwatching @ Maison & Objet 2015
We thought marble and copper had had their day, but boy, were we wrong. It was very difficult to avoid these materials yesterday. Tom Dixon, who launched his Eclectic accessory line two and a half years ago, however, succeeded in surprising me with his latest collection.
Besides his existing brass TOOL collection, he recently designed a series of new, sleek, copper office accessories including elegant ballpoints with a nice, sturdy pen block, a stapler and a tape dispenser. CUBE! Available in the shop and online store soon.
DIESEL WITH SELETTI
When Diesel Living presented its table accessories in Paris a few months ago, I immediately knew that I wanted to become the exclusive distributor of this collection in Belgium. The Transmission candle holder and Ghost glass dome now feature prominently in my showroom. We are currently impatiently awaiting the COSMIC DINER flatware to set our table with planets that have descended down to earth. Soon we will be able to dine on Venus, Mars and Jupiter here.
I'm always proud to be a Belgian when I stop in at the Serax booth. On 9 January, the Kontich-based company won the Henry van de Velde Award. As usual, they had plenty of new stuff to show. I was most interested in their collaboration with the Amsterdam-based designers Anouk Jansen & Harm Magis.
Jansen+co is a table-top design brand with contemporary, unique and colourful products. Every Jansen+co product is a mix of high-quality industrial production and an authentic, hand-made finish. They add a modern twist to classic shapes and stylishly alternate vibrant, bright colours with more subtle, complementary shades.
GHENT LIGHT FESTIVAL
The Linea neon tube light was presented to the public for the first time at Maison et Objet 2015. But we were able to showcase these lights in our window display several weeks earlier because of the light festival, which runs from Thursday 29 January 2015 until 1 February 2015 in Ghent.
We are not ready to reveal everything quite yet… but which novelties do we have in store for you?
This spring, SIA HOMEFASHION's lovely range of beautiful, qualitative and affordable silk flowers will brighten up our showroom. Cutipol's successful black cutlery has recently been launched in a new colour. We placed our first order with Le Typographe, which sells a range of exclusive, hand-made stationery and is based in Brussels. And Martin Margiela has designed a fun, new gadget.
