The authors, Anna Jenkinson and Neil Evans, were inspired by countless discussions with chefs, farmers, curators and book collectors. Based on this, they have compiled a book of recipes and stories that explain the intimate relationship between Belgians and their food. Neil and Anna visited towns and villages from the North Sea coast to the forests of the Ardennes, learning everything there is to know about the food habits of Belgians. They have brought the history of Belgium and its inhabitants to life in this book with this knowledge. They write about the secret of proper Belgian fries, about the day the first ever Belgian chocolate was made and how the Spanish, the French and the Germans have influenced Belgian cuisine through the centuries.
