Dooreman studied Free Graphics at Sint-Lucasinstituut in Ghent. He started out his career as an illustrator but soon decided to focus on typography and design. He designs all the book covers for the writer Tom Lanoye. Dooreman also works as a poster designer for various theatres and as a designer and typographer for all the major publishers in Flanders and the Netherlands. He has received several awards for his work, including the Henry Van de Velde Award for his career. He also composes music.
Includes declarations of love to books such as "Reading is that fruitful miracle of communication in the midst of solitude" (Marcel Proust), surprising statements such as a "Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read" (Groucho Marx), and wise words to reflect on such as "We can destroy what we have written, but we can not unwrite it" (Anthony Burgess).
